Terms & Conditions For
Children & Teens Courses

By accepting a place you are agreeing to adhere to these terms.

We expect all participants to follow these codes of conduct in full. Failure to follow the codes of conduct may result in being asked to leave classes.

Bookings and Payments

Bookings and Payments will need to be made in advance for a course of 10 weeks. Payments can be made cash or by card at reception or online via PayPal. Personal Details, such as Name, Contact Details and Birthdate of the child will need to be provided on booking for a course. Age restrictions apply for each course and no exceptions will be accepted due to insurance coverage.

Cancellations

Signing up for a course means you are signing up for a fixed term of 10 weeks.

The fees are non-refundable unless there are special circumstances in which case the refund is at our discretion.

If you wish to cancel your course at any time, refunds will not be given.

Cancellation must be given by email to our administration team.

In exceptional circumstances it may be necessary for the UK Shaolin Centre to cancel a class. If this happens, you will be notified with as much notice as possible by email and on our social network.

If the cancellation is outside of our control – for example due to an incident at the venue or extreme weather conditions a refund will not be made.

Charges

We appreciate that some children do not always wish to take part on the day or may wish to attend other events but we are unable to refund any children who do not take part, this is due to the fact that we have reserved the space for your child and the staff and venue have already been arranged. Please note that it is quite normal for children to be shy when they first attend and their confidence will grow in the weeks to come. The coaching team is experienced in dealing with this and will be happy to work with your child to improve their confidence. Once a course or series of lessons has been paid for, you are not entitled to a refund if your child does not wish to attend.

We do not offer “makeup classes” for lessons missed.

Guardians

The Teen course sessions (where the adult is not required to participate in class) adults are asked to wait outside or to drop the teens off and leave the venue.

All children 5-11 in our Kung fu and Kickboxing sessions must have a guardian on site at all times and can wait outside the UK Shaolin Centre inside the Marlands Shopping Centre. Children’s coaching is much more effective when the environment is not distracting.

Arriving at classes and leaving

Children must be escorted into the UK shaolin Centre and sign in at reception. They cannot be dropped in the car park or other areas of the Marlands Shopping Centre. Likewise at the end of the class please collect your child from the UK Shaolin Centre door. Please be on time to collect your child, if you have arranged for someone else to pick up the child inform the coach in charge. We will not let children leave with other people who are not on registration forms or if we have not been informed. Children without guardians will not be allowed to leave unattended unless prior written consent has been given by the guardian. This consent will only be accepted for children aged 12 and over. Children are required to arrive at a good time to start the class promptly. We will enforce a £50.00 fine for every 30 min your child has not been collected after class on time.

Because of health and safety regulations no parents/friends/carers are allowed to view classes in the UK Shaolin Centre or remain inside, unless they are a member and using other parts of the facility. Anyone that does stay inside the UK Shaolin Centre will be asked to leave so please do not take offence. If you have any questions, please speak to a coach either before or after your child’s lesson.

Warm up is very important, try to be on time. If you are more than 10 minutes late you won’t be allowed to join in the session. Please check the roads or public transport for any traffic problems.

Inform the coach at the start of a session if your child is feeling ill, has a previous injury or if any medical conditions have changed.

Children must wear appropriate clothing. No tops with anything dangling from it or long frills/skirts attached. No skirts, anything with zips, friendship bands on either wrist or ankles, belts or jeans. This protects the child, coach and the equipment.

Any bands that are worn for religious reasons can stay on but will need to be taped.

Long hair must be tied back as it can be hazardous. Please try to remember a hair band.

Children must not go on the equipment without supervision of the coach.

Jewellery is not permitted to be worn during training. This is a requirement and Insurance will be invalid if this is not adhered to. Earrings or any other piercings can be taped if they have just been pierced, but for no longer than 6 weeks. After this period they must be taken out.

On booking, please give full details of any child with any disabilities. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to notify us of such disabilities to ensure safe and effective teaching methods and standards are maintained.
